THE WEDDING -- eat your heart out Wills and Kate, ours was better
We might not have had Westminster Abbey, the band of the Welsh Guards, the Arch Bish of Canturbury, and Queenie lurking in the background, but ours was the best ever. It was such a lovely day filled with sun and smiles and laughter. We didn’t start with the sun though, we woke up to the rain battering into the window, and the wind howling. Thank you BBC for cheering us up by telling us that there would be sunny intervals by midday, because they duly arrived, dead on time.
I was aiming to be downstairs by 11.30 for a high grade mingle with the other guests, At 10.40, I had painted my nails, when it occurred to me that I had omitted to bring any tights/stockings with me. Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaargh, in a minor ( actually I lie, it was a major one) moment of panic , I grabbed the car keys and ran out of the room, having first checked that daughter and sister in law didn’t have any spares. It was a 15 mins drive each way to the nearest shops. Hah – totally broke the record on that one, driving like a looney tunes, with my fingers held away from the steering wheel, in case I smudged my nails. I made it back to the hotel ,and into my room by 11.05, to put on my make up etc etc at high speed and then to take a deep breath and head for the ceremony
Valle looked radiant and beautiful, and Alun so handsome in his suit. Predudiced---, who moi ? In fact everyone looked very special. Now here’s the pictures to prove it. The photos are taken by myself and Richard. We're waiting for more to arrive from other guests.

Alun on the left, with Andrew the best man, don't they scrub up well, and here's my lovely Ruth looking beautiful with partner James

After the ceremony, Dante (baby) had a lovely little suit with a little pink tie and looked sooooooo cute.

Daddy with Dante, and then out on the lawns for pictures, and me in my wedding finery, with sister-in-law Wendy and my lovely Ruth, and lots of laughter everywhere

I forgot to mention that our lovely new daughter- in- law, Valle is Spanish, so we had a translator at the wedding,Valle's great friend, the absolutley brilliant Manolo (Manuel), he lives in Wales, and I might just need to adopt him. The picture was taken because we colour co-ordinated so beautifully.
Such fun. My hat was fab, and I loved wearing it. Alun made a speech in Spanish at the reception, having been coached by Manolo, and the best man, Andrew was presented with a very large leg of the Spanish equivilent of Parma ham ,( please don't ask why, I have no idea ) which he carried round with him for ages. I do so love the surreal aspects of life.
I have never mentioned before, that music is at the centre of Alun's life, he is a key board player, the best man is lead guitar and singer, they have made music together, since they were at school. They came together again as a band, to play at Alun and Valle's wedding, and Alun got to sing at his own wedding, I mean how totally fab is that ? Sloppy romantic stuff ---- nah, 60's rock. Are they good--- oh yes indeeed, and am I sufferring from extreme predudice here. Nope-- they were totally and completley brilliant, they rocked .
We had such a wonderful day, so many memories.
May Alun and Valle always be there for each other and may they know great happiness in their life together.
xxxx
