For those of you who didn't see my post on Face book last week, Here's the story, a week last sunday my lovely web designer William, phoned me to tell me that the company that hosts all his web sites had screwed up big time, and had deleted them all, not only that, but they had omitted to do any back up since January 18th. What did this mean for me ? Well, everything between 18th of January and now , just disappeared, updates, records,blogs etc etc. Great eh ?

Well that's 2011 over , now for 2012.  I'm not a great beleiver in New Year resolutions, as mostly they all seem to fall by the wayside, because  they are often unworkable, and usually  involve discomfort and pain for the person who makes them. I speak of course of diets and exercise . What I would like to do is make a list of stuff that I would quite like to happen, and which I would be , if in some manner I managed to achieve any of them, be somewhat pleased. gratified and modestly chuffed.

Last Saturday feeling all claggy and coughy and generally not good, and having already done two weeks of a disgusting fluey bug, I found myself in a nearby Marks and Sparks. I was in dire need of a treat and I saw this lovely beaded/buttoned knitted beret and decided to treat myself.

Dante is one tomorrow, I'm not sure where the year went, seems to have whizzed by. I'm told that this is a sign of advancing age. ( Note to self, today I feel about 95, so this must be true ) There was a small party yesterday.

During the last month a whole catalogue of things has happened in the home of Knitwitches, and it all started out so well. Sigh.  It started with my desire for a wood burning stove to be installed in our lounge for this winter. I have wanted one for ages and finally persuaded Himself that this was a seriously good idea. Sean the builder, who is also my lovely next door neighbour, came into knock out the old fireplace.

A few weeks ago, in this rather wet corner of Wales, we had 4 days of glorious sunny  weather. I took the dogs for a walk in the forestry, not far from where we live. It was warm and sunny, and there was the sweet smell of bracken in the air. It was the kind of day when all feels right with the world. 

We might not have had Westminster Abbey, the band of the Welsh Guards, the Arch Bish of Canturbury, and Queenie lurking in the background, but ours was the best ever. It was such a lovely day filled with sun and smiles and laughter. We didn’t start with the sun  though, we woke up to the rain battering into the window, and the wind howling.

Had a lovely day last sunday, running an Easy Peasy Lace Knitting workshop at Calon Yarns Craft Studio in Cardiff. 6 students plus the lovely Lynne who runs Calon Yarns. No one who is new to lace knitting, ever beleives that knitting lace basically consists of yarn overs, knit two together .And also of course the beeeeg one of confidence, beleiving that you can do it and not getting too screwed up over mistakes. Once you get to that, the fun can begin.

I haven't written a blog for ages and ages, but here I am back again. I've just had a splendid adventure and have been to Estonia on a knitting trip organised by the Dutch Knitters. I had so much fun and thouroughly enjoyed myself . I went with Gerard from Iknit London, and we met the Dutch girls in Tallinn, I couldn't get into the hotel they were all at so got myself into a lovely hotel just inside the medieaval city walls. This is the view from my bedroom window., and some other views round the old city which was just lovely once you wandered off the main tourist drag.
